LAGOS YOUTH COMMISSIONER, OGUNLENDE, INSPECTS YOUTH CENTRES AND ELDERLY PEOPLE’S HOME IN BADAGRY DIVISION


…Emphasizes Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s Commitment to Youth Empowerment and Social Inclusion

In a concerted effort to bolster youth and social development in Lagos State, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende (RAK), embarked on an inspection tour of youth centers and an elderly people’s home in Badagry Division. The aim was to evaluate the existing infrastructure and address the developmental needs of the youth and elderly population, aligning with the THEMESPlus development agenda of the Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

Accompanied by a team from the Ministry, Hon. Ogunlende visited Oto-Awori Youth Centre in Shibiri, Ajara Youth Centre in Ajara, and Badagry Youth Centre on Hospital Road, Badagry on Thursday 25th April, 2024, meticulously assessing the facilities and identifying areas for improvement. Engagements with staff members and youth beneficiaries provided valuable insights into the challenges faced and potential solutions to enhance their experiences.

Following the youth center tour, the Commissioner inspected the Elderly People’s Home in Iworo, Olorunda LCDA on Friday, 26th April, 2024, underscoring its significance in promoting social inclusion and welfare, consistent with the THEMESPlus agenda. Hon. Ogunlende emphasized that the home represents the administration’s commitment to institutionalizing the welfare of the elderly, ensuring that no segment of society is left behind.



The ongoing inspection tour has so far covered 17 out of 35 youth centers across the state, and reflects the Commissioner’s dedication to youth empowerment and social inclusivity. Both initiatives underscore the administration’s resolve to create a brighter future for the youth and elderly, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for all Lagosians.
